Barking Mad is your organisation in Australia representing responsible pet owners.
|
We are a member based organisation because that is the best way to lobby for change.
For example, one paid-up member has the influence of 100 voters. A membership (such as those in industry associations) shows that you are willing to put your money where your bark is.
When you join Barking Mad, you make a stand for your rights as a valuable community member. An annual membership costs less than a bag of good pet chow. Don't just visit - please become a member online, by post,

| | Your dog may have $10 million liability insurance with your contents policy – and not just when it is at home. | | In NSW, you do not have to accept strata by-laws that claim 'no pets'. Queensland - do you really support one-dog-per family laws?

I’d been concerned and angry for a long while about the restrictions on where I can and can’t go with my doggie, especially after scoring a double whammy of hefty fines for my two dogs on a beach in 2003! Then I read about Barking Mad in the Manly Daily. I became a member straight away and I do what I can to support the efforts. I don’t have a great deal of time, nor skill in the lobbying department. For me the real benefit of being a member is simply to have an experienced and committed lobbying resource working hard on my behalf to get some changes made. Barking Mad is an organisation that works hard at pulling all the resources together in one place. I love living near the beach, but reasonable access for us and our dogs is a real problem for me. I know that this will probably be the only opportunity we have to get real results. On my own, I’d never do it – with Barking Mad, we have a real chance here to make some changes. I urge you to NOT DELAY – just join up, pay your money and get involved to the degree that you can. It is money well spent” Paul Archer, Frenchs Forest, NSW - member since 2006 | The benefits of membership include: Influence Membership empowers dog owners and the majority of the population who own pets. Collectively, Barking Mad can apply a much greater influence on government than an individual or local pet advocacy group can.
Education Barking Mad is focused on education, research and a logical debate. We use facts and figures, not just ideas, to support our goals. We understand the importance of education: to be knowledgeable about animal behaviour, to be appreciative of the role of companion animals and to adopt strategies to overcome problems or negative aspects of pets in our environment. We support dog (and people) training programs. Effective Voice By pooling members' views, Barking Mad becomes a far more effective voice to government and in the market.
Extensive Network Barking Mad's extensive network frames local issues in a national context. This provides you with the benefit of experience and knowledge from across Australia. Keep up to date Keep up to date through Barking Mad's journal, The Bite and through unrestricted access to Barking Mad's website. Discounts From time to time you will receive discount offers on events and products. Tax Deductible The cost of membership may be tax deductible for some individuals in some circumstances. Please consult your tax professional. The Barking Mad Beach House - WOW!
